Auckland’s stunning Viaduct Harbour was home, last weekend, to the On The Water Boat Show. Running from Thursday 27 September to Sunday 30 September, the event saw in the start of daylight savings which, for many, marks the real start of the Summer season.
Over 20,000 people visited the show across the four days, to speak to the experts, get the best advice and see all the latest and greatest gear, from fishing equipment to solar technology and electronics.
FUSION was well represented at the show, both in and around the Harbour. The stand drew hundreds of visitors to check out the 50 Series, right up to the 700 Series and everything in between. The impressive apps were in action, which still never fail to “wow” the masses.
Out on the water, lots of boats were also boasting FUSION gear. The sheer size of boats on display was a unique feature of this year’s show, with boating enthusiasts able to check out everything from powerboats to yachts of all sizes. NZ-built and refitted vessels were strongly represented, which highlighted the expertise of Kiwi boat builders and marine suppliers.
According to organiser, Peter Busfield, an estimated 100 boats sold at the show, including some hybrids powered by solar panels and some in the ‘upwards of a million dollars’ category. The gadgets fared well also, all showing a lift in the economy for the maritime industry.
And now, with the longer days ahead, it’s time to get out and enjoy some time on the water… Family, Friends, FUSION – it’s what boating is all about!
