Subwoofer trouble shooting

If your subwoofer is not working correctly firstly check that your amplifier is not in ‘protection’. You will know the amplifier is protection if the LED indicator on the control panel is light red.

If it is, this could be a sign that you have a problem with your subwoofer or amplifier.

Is it my subwoofer?
The easiest way to check if your subwoofer is causing your amplifier to go into ‘protection’ is to disconnect the subwoofer and turn the amplifier on. If it does not go into ‘protection’ with the amplifier disconnected from the subwoofer, your subwoofer is the problem.

Asses your subwoofer by;
1) checking for a burnt smell -  a burnt smell indicates that the voice coil is burnt
2) try and move the cone gently by pressing down in the centre to see if it has seized, rubbing or if it is moving freely - if it does not move freely this indicates that the voice coil is burnt

Is it my amplifier?
If when you disconnect the subwoofer the amplifier still goes into ‘protection’  when it is turned on, there is every reason to suspect your amplifier may have an internal fault.

Unfortunately this does not mean your subwoofer is guaranteed to be fault free, as the amplifier may have suffered as a result of the subwoofer failing or visa versa. At this point we recommend that you return either one or both of the products to your place of purchase for inspection by the authorised dealer under the warranty provision of the product.
